Kintsugi (金継ぎ, "golden joinery"), also known as kinsukuroi (金繕い, "golden repair"), is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum, a method similar to the maki-e technique.
Repairing a broken plate or bowl with golden filling makes the piece more beautiful, and is a way of showing that the piece has a valuable history. Kintsugi teaches various ways to be strong and resilient in the face of past, present, and future suffering.
Distressed, mended and pieced together in sterling silver and 14K gold. This ring is a comort shape band and is meant to be worn as a reminder of the unique journey and often painful path we all experience. This piece carries the hope of healing and self awareness that there is strength after being broken.
